Let me confess — I absolutely love doing portraits in new places. So, when my niece asked me if we could do her senior portraits on the other side of the state, I didn’t hesitate! The images in this gallery should give you a feel for the variety of poses, images, etc. that I what I typically create during a portrait session.
Absolutely! You see, it’s super important to me that you are happy with the results. If you have your heart set on doing a portrait session on Lake Michigan, like Maggie — I will figure out a way to make that happen. Let me know what you have in mind and we can talk!
I prepare for a destination portrait in much the same way as any other session. I always come prepared.
Before your session, we'll talk about outfits, locations, the style or feel of images you love... all that good stuff. If you have a hard time narrowing down your awesome selection of outfits, shoes, and the like, please don't get stressed.
That’s where I come in. I tell my clients to bring extra outfits if they can’t narrow their choices down. I’m happy to provide suggestions or make an impartial decision if that’s what my client wants.
After hair and makeup were finished, we headed out to the lake. Because we were planning a sunset portrait session, I kept a close eye on the clock so we could be in the right place at the right time.
We stopped at the lighthouse first, then walked out to the pier, and ended up down by the beach. After the sun set, we headed into town to the local ice cream place — and did a few photos there just for fun. Maggie’s cousins wanted to be in the photos too — so they met us at Dairy Treat. Too much fun!
If you’ve got a special location in mind for your senior portraits, please do share! While we most often photograph around the greater Ann Arbor area, I am happy to travel if you have a special location in mind.
