Whether you call it giving back, paying it forward, blessing others... the meaning is the same. Here at Betsy's Photography we believe in making the world a better place -- one portrait at a time.

I believe that a strong community is built through shared knowledge, mentorship, and the investment of our time. My commitment to our community happens on a number of levels, from professional service to hands-on youth mentorship.

Mentoring the Next Generation

A significant part of my heart is invested in guiding the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. This manifests in my work with two incredible organizations:

FIRST FTC Middle School Robotics

As a coach, I get to witness the power of "Gracious Professionalism" firsthand. My lifelong habit of "dissecting" things to see how they work has finally found its perfect outlet! I love helping students solve complex problems and see their mechanical designs come to life.

Scouting America

By volunteering with a local troop, I help scouts navigate their path toward leadership, character development, and citizenship. Whether we are outdoors or working on a service project, I am honored to help guide these young people as they grow into capable adults.

Photography with Purpose

I believe every person deserves to have their story told through a professional lens, regardless of their circumstances. Over the years, I have been proud to support our community by:

• Fundraising Support: Donating portrait sessions to non-profits and schools for fundraising auctions.
• Non-Profit Partnerships: Offering free portrait sessions to individuals through local non-profit organizations.
• Spreading Kindness: Every year, I gift a "Spread Kindness" package of free portrait sessions or commissioned paintings to a dozen individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford these luxury items.
• Community Education: Teaching youth and the community about the art and craft of photography to inspire a new generation of creators.

Advancing the Craft

Beyond local outreach, I am dedicated to the growth of the photographic industry. I frequently share my expertise as a speaker at national conventions and have served as a contributing writer for Professional Photographer magazine for over a decade, authoring more than 100 articles to help elevate our profession.
