Just a quick update! We're continuing to keep things safe around here. We have cleaning procedures in place, air filtration devices, etc. We're also happy to bring our mobile studio to you as comfort dictates.
Covid shots? We've got them, including the booster. We'll do our best to protect our clients, and as the situation keeps changing, we'll adapt. Here's to seeing you soon!

A virtual message from Betsy can be viewed below. We're continuing to follow Covid safety procedures, but have been thrilled to welcome vaccinated clients back into the studio!

Summer is finally here! As you're aware, Michigan has been making plans to gradually step down Covid-19 restrictions over the past weeks. Many of us are already vaccinated at this point, and mask wearing requirements have been relaxed, and the powers that be are moving ahead with more plans to bring things "back to normal."
So, what counts as "normal?" It certainly isn't the same for everyone. I've waited to announce any new safety measures for Betsy's Photography because I want all to feel welcome and safe -- and even now, I'm not certain what that entails for you. Everyone deserves to be photographed in an environment that makes them feel comfortable.
I will be making some adjustments on a client by client basis -- as your comfort dictates! Some things to note:
- I am fully vaccinated, but am happy to wear a mask during your appointments/sessions. You can let me know ahead of time or the day of - NEVER feel awkward for asking. You deserve to feel comfortable.
- If you are fully vaccinated, masks are not required (even if you are not being photographed).
Moving forward, we will continue to schedule virtual appointments for consultations, view and order appointments, and the like for the time being...but we'd love to return these to in-person meetings eventually.
We will also continue offering our outdoor studio sessions with backdrops for those clients who feel more comfortable, but again, we are making plans to transition back to working in our camera room. As always, we will continue to offer location sessions, but we'll keep you posted as the plans to reopen my camera room are finalized for vaccinated individuals. Session choices for families with younger children will expand as things continue to unfold -- but I am happy to continue planning sessions with you on location or outdoors for the time being.
I look forward to welcoming you back in my studio soon.

Winter is in full swing out there, and while my dog may have started shedding his winter coat, we still have plenty of snow. I'm excited for the warmer weather, as it means we'll have more flexibility in location choices for your portraits!
In the meantime, though, I appreciate my clients' willingness to adapt and be flexible. I've completed a number of in-home portrait sessions, complete with Covid-19 safety measures. It's been different, but I've still loved working with you! Here's a video explaining a little more:
In case you're wondering how this plays out -- for in-home sessions I've been continuing to implement Covid-19 precautions like mask-wearing, temperature checks before I leave for a session, and the like. Additionally, I've transitioned to "directing from afar" so as to minimize my close contact with you during the session itself.
I'm a storyteller at heart, so being able to capture your memories and tell your story for you remains my goal, even if my method is a little different these days. As always, if you have any questions, I'd love to chat with you over the phone! Feel free to call 734-424-0472 or contact the studio so we can schedule a time to chat virtually.
Hope to see you soon!

It's been an interesting season of senior portraits, headshots, and more here in Michigan! I've loved the challenge of adapting to outdoor portraiture, including my "outdoor studio" for Covid-19 safety measures! Here's a brief video I made explaining how the images I am presently creating equal the quality of those made in my studio's camera room. You'll also notice I'm wearing a mask. It's par for the course these days when we meet in person -- but you get to take yours off for your portrait session, fortunately!
I'm coming up with some fun/creative plans for the winter months, and will be excited to look forward to welcoming you back inside my studio. Until then, I'd love to talk more about creating portraits for you -- either on location, or in my "outdoor studio."

Fall is upon us! The information below still applies, but I wanted to take a moment to share this video with you in case you're wondering how I'm creating studio headshot portraits NOT in the studio. Enjoy!

Thank you for your continued support and desire to trust me with your photographic memories. As I type this message, I am encouraged by the flurry of emails in my inbox. I am in the midst of planning numerous sessions with excited clients, and look forward to connecting with more of you as the weeks roll on.
As you know, the covid-19 situation remains somewhat unpredictable. For your peace of mind, I added extra safety measures, outlined below in my earlier message from May 29th, 2020. We are continuing to monitor updates as announced by Governor Whitmer, and adjusting safety measures as needed.
With parents and students preparing for as-of-yet unknown school situation in the fall, and life at work being unpredictable, everyone has a lot on their plate these days. Please remember, our rescheduling policy has always been flexible, and we will continue to extend that courtesy to you, so please don't wait until things "settle down" to reach out. I am happy to help you capture these fleeting moments now, and I am confident we will achieve excellent results during your session.
So, when you're ready, I'm looking forward to hearing from you. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact me so I can address any concerns you might have.
Looking forward to seeing you soon,

I have missed seeing your friendly faces at the studio during our government-mandated closure. With things starting to open back up again, I wanted to take the time to communicate with you our plan for reopening, and, for those of you who are longtime clients, how things will be a little different.
In addition to filling out a questionnaire prior to your session, I strongly encourage you to set up a virtual meeting with me. By spending 10-15 minutes chatting beforehand, you can see me without a mask on, get comfortable with me, and have any questions answered. In short, this will help you be more relaxed while I photograph you in a socially distanced manner. I am available to meet virtually on Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, etc…just let me know what works best for you.
For the time being, we will be conducting sessions outdoors on location rather than inside or in my studio. This seems to be the safest way to keep exposure to germs low.
When working on location, I have always brought studio lighting with me, so this won’t be a big change. If you want a more formal portrait with studio background, just let me know ahead of time so I can bring a portable background.
Another change will be the wearing of masks, and social distancing. I will wear a mask throughout the duration of the session, as should anyone present who is not being photographed. If you are being photographed please wear a loose mask or no mask for at least a half hour before your session, so there are no imprints on your face.
Finally, if you are planning a large group portrait, please be aware that we do need to follow maximum gathering restrictions. Until further notice is received from the CDC and other health officials, we will need to observe the maximum gathering rule of 10 or fewer persons (including myself). I do have the ability to make composite images and am happy to discuss options for photographing large groups at separate times if necessary.
I’ve always maintained a flexible rescheduling policy, and that will continue! Please make sure to touch base and let me know if you think things may need rescheduling, either due to a missed naptime, or due to illness.
Regarding illness or symptoms: we appreciate your consideration of others as you evaluate how you are feeling before your session. If, in the last 14 days, you have had a cough or any flu-like or COVID symptoms or have been around anyone exhibiting these symptoms, we thank you for contacting us to reschedule. Additionally, please notify us if you are living with anyone who is sick or quarantined.
Viewing + Ordering
One of my favorite parts of working with you is guiding you through the process of selecting your favorite portraits and deciding what products work best for your home. I wish I could still invite you to my studio to do this in person together, but for the time being, we will be doing this virtually.
I’ll go over all the details with you beforehand, but let me reassure you I am still here to help answer your questions and provide my artistic input as you find helpful!
If you have any questions, I would be happy to chat with you on the phone (734-424-0472) or via email (contact me).
