Stick Bug Macro Portrait

We found this stick bug in our yard, but it was dead by the time I photographed it. I actually prefer photographing live insects because it's easier to get them to appear in a natural position. That, and I like to return them to nature after I am done photographing them.

You can see that this stick bug has its middle legs folded up -- I'm not sure if they do this when alive, but since the stick bug was *not* alive, those particular legs were not amenable to being positioned for a "live-looking" photograph.

Location: Dexter, MI.
