While visiting Juneau, we went on a whale watching expedition in the Stephens Passage area. This photograph was taken as we were headed in search of some whales that had been sighted. If you look closely at the buoy, you'll spot what I believe are Stellar Sea Lions basking in the sun.
I love everything about this photograph. The animals, the lighthouse, the mountains, the choppy water... and particularly the lighthouse in the distance. That lighthouse is Point Retreat Lighthouse, in case you're interested.
