Yearbook Deadlines for High School Seniors in Southeast Michigan
When planning your senior portraits, it's important to consider your yearbook deadline. Most senior portrait sessions take place during the summer months, or sometimes early fall, depending on a particular senior's yearbook deadline.
Confused By the Requirements?
Worried about submitting your photo? Well, if you book with us, there's no need. While some photographers make you submit your own yearbook photo, but here at Betsy's Photography, we do all that so you have one less thing on your plate.
Not to worry! We can decipher the rules for you, as this something we've done for 15+ years. Some schools don't allow sleeveless shirts, or require studio backdrops. Whatever the guidelines, we're happy to make sure your senior photo adheres.

Planning Around Michigan High School Yearbook Deadlines
We recommend planning your senior portrait session by May -- that means getting an appointment or session scheduled with your photographer. Why? Because your schedule is busy, and as it gets closer to your yearbook deadline, you will not have your choice of appointment times for your senior portraits. That's why the majority of my clients have scheduled, or booked, their senior session with me before the end of May. It just makes your life easier!
After your session, you'll come to the studio to view and order your senior portraits. You'll also select your senior picture that will be submitted to the yearbook. As with all my senior portraits, your yearbook picture will be fully retouched (acne, blemishes, etc).
One nice convenience I provide for all my clients? I submit the yearbook photo digitally for you, so that you have one less thing to do. I also send you a copy of the email showing it was received by the yearbook staff, or a screenshot of the "successful upload" to Jostens etc. I do recommend you still confirm with the yearbook for your own peace of mind -- but you get to pass off the bulk of the work to me :).
Please make sure that your view and order appointment is scheduled several weeks before the yearbook deadline so we have time to spare when turning it in (and confirming that it has been received). A rush fee of $50 may apply if you select your yearbook image less than 10 days before your deadline.

We're Senior Portrait Photographers, Not Cap and Gown Picture Takers!
We are located in Southeast Michigan. We are not affiliated with any school as an official "cap and gown" school photographer, because we do so much more than that! Rather than providing standardized graduation photos, we provide a unique portrait experience that is tailored to each of our clients. Yes, we can (and do) take portraits of seniors wearing their cap and gown, but this is usually an add-on to our standard session rather than the heart of what we do. And yes, during our normal sessions, we work with our clients to create unique portrait options that meet the yearbook picture requirements for their particular high school. Sometimes they change the deadlines and requirements from year to year, so we like to know what information current students are receiving!
